March & April Favorites

Hi friends! Welcome back! I realized I completely forgot to do my March favorites last month so, rather than do a separate March and April post, I decided I would just combine the two. Luckily, I haven't done much shopping lately so it'll be easy enough to make this a twofer. As you'll see, all of my favorites from the past couple of months, with the exception of one, are some form of denim and that's because I am literally obsessed. I have always been a denim lover, but with all of the amazing Canadian tuxedo looks that have been trending this season, my denim infatuation has grown immensely. I didn't think it was possible, but here we are. As always, I'll take you through each item and explain why I love it and think it's worth purchasing. I promise I will never steer you guys wrong.

First up is my number one favorite recent purchase. My beloved Levi's 501 Original jeans. I've worn these jeans nonstop since I purchased them. Of all of the jeans I own and love, these are by far my favorite fit. I loved them so much that I got them in a size up for a slightly baggier fit as well. Personally, I feel like straight leg denim is the most flattering fit on me, but I've struggled to find pair that checked all the boxes as far as fit, length, and comfort. These are everything I've been looking for and more. The rise is high waisted, but not so high waisted that they're practically under your boobs and the length hits just below my ankle so they look flattering with every type of shoe. I can't think of a single outfit I would wear that wouldn't work with these babies. If you're a straight leg denim girly like me, I wouldn't hesitate to give these a shot.

I own a few different denim jackets, but I realized I didn't have one in a light enough wash to match with the majority of my jeans. I wanted an oversized fit with kind of a wider arm, if that makes sense? I browsed and browsed until I came across this one and I was sold. I love the shape and length of it which is great for dressing down office looks, throwing on over a dress on chilly spring/summer nights, and my personal favorite, double denim looks! I sized up to a medium, but a small would have still been oversized enough so I would suggest staying true to size.

I wasn't lying when I said I haven't stopped wearing these jeans since I bought them. Another way I styled them is with this super cute denim vest that I randomly spotted at Mango when Jason and I were looking for something to wear for Easter. It was one of those items that catches your eye and you immediately pick it up and try it on. As soon as I saw it, I instantly thought of all the ways I'm going to wear it over the next few months. I never thought I would be a vest girl, but clearly something has changed with my style in these last couple of years and I am not mad about it at all. The quality of this denim is really premium as well, so it will last a lifetime.

We are quickly approaching shorts weather and to say I'm excited about it would be a major understatement. When it gets too hot outside to comfortably wear jeans anymore, I quickly switch over to denim shorts instead. In my teens and 20s I needed my shorts to be super short, but once I turned 30, something switched in my brain and now I refuse to wear shorts that are shorter than mid length. Not only are they more comfortable and age appropriate, I personally think they're more chic as well. I like to wear my shorts with a nice top and heeled sandals for dinners in the summer and I find that it's much easier to dress up a mid/longer length pair of shorts than it is to dress up a pair of daisy dukes. I bought these recently and I just know they're going to be my go-to pair for bbq's, pool parties, the beach, and again, nice summer dinners.

Okay, so I'm not much of a runner, but I do enjoy nice long walks as the easiest form of exercise. I usually just wear sweat shorts during my walks in the summer, but I wanted something that was a bit more breathable and lightweight. I saw someone on Instagram mention these as a more budget friendly alternative to the Lululemon ones so I decided to give it a try and I absolutely LOVE them. They have a conveniently placed zipper pocket to hold your phone or keys. It's also lined with a matching extra layer underneath (kind of like underwear) which I love. I definitely plan on getting more colors and wearing them for all of my summer walks.

**Okay guys, that's all for March and April! I'll be back next month with whatever random new items I'm fixated on. Until next time, tootles sugar plums! Xoxo.
