Hi friends! Welcome back! One of the biggest trends this spring/summer is the oversized button down. They have quickly become one of my favorite staple items to wear during the warmer months. I probably have about fifteen button down shirts (no exaggeration) in every color you can think of because I can't seem to stop buying them. The only color I'm missing is green because as much as I love it on other people, I'm terrified to wear it myself. I just feel like it's an odd color choice for my skin tone. Maybe it's in my head, but I've decided it's just one of those colors I'll have to admire from afar. Anyway, I just love how versatile button downs are. They can be worn open, closed, tied in the front, tucked in, half-tucked, as a dress, as a swimsuit cover up...honestly the options are pretty endless. I like to stick to cotton poplin and linen materials because they tend to be more breathable in the warmer months. They're a timeless trend and the best part is that they're sold in literally every clothing store at every price point, so they're easily accessible for every budget. What more can you ask for?
I've mentioned this before but, once I decide I love a certain outfit formula, it's all I want to wear. At the moment, this is that outfit formula. I wore a different variation of this look a few weeks ago and fell in love with how it turned out. Now, good luck getting me to wear anything else for the foreseeable future. As you all very well know by now, when it comes to blazers, jackets, sweaters, and sweatshirts, if i'm not swimming it in, I'm not interested. The same goes for button downs. It needs to be at least 2 sizes too big in order for me to get my desired fit, but that is 100% a personal choice and you for sure do not have to be that obnoxious about it. I just tend to like when my shirts billow out around me. It makes me feel like one of those really chic fashion girls you see walking around NYC during fashion week. I saw a very similar look to the one I'm wearing in this post on Pinterest and I just knew I had to recreate it. I styled a light blue poplin shirt with my trusty Levi's 501 jeans, an off-white purse, and the most gorgeous fuchsia heels. I absolutely love the way these colors complement each other. One of my favorite looks to date!
