"Oh, Cute! This Works."

Hi friends! Welcome back! One of the strategies I use when I'm not sure what to wear is to start with one item and then add on from there. For me, the easiest thing to do is to start with the main attraction. By main attraction I mean the item that is going to be the most eye catching. Then, you can add on pieces that you think will work with it. I like to use Pinterest to help me decide what I want to add. For example, this week I chose to style my black wool coat. I also knew that I wanted to avoid an all black look because I'm saving that for next week and I didn't want to have two all black looks in a row. Why? I have no idea. I just go with whatever my brain decides it wants to do and I don't question it. Anyway, I went to Pinterest, typed in "black wool coat outfits" and the ideas came flooding right in.

So, based on my Pinterest scrolling, I decided to go with the classic look of light wash denim, a black turtleneck and black boots. I figured it's not an all black outfit because the jeans aren't black right? I was planning on layering a black blazer underneath to add a little something extra but then, as I was reaching for it, I had an even better idea. I tried on my favorite olive blazer underneath the coat and loved how it turned out. The lapel on the blazer sat perfectly on the lapel of the coat which completely transformed the look I had in mind in the best way possible. It was one of those unintentional, "Oh, cute! This works." moments. I was able to achieve the look I wanted and then some. Yay! All outfit details are listed below. Until next time, tootles sugar plums! Xoxo.
