Outfit Re-Styling 101

Hi friends! Welcome back! I took a break from shooting/blogging last week because we had a fun snowy weekend and I wanted to spend it binging our new favorite show, Snowfall, without any interruptions. Once I start binging a show it consumes me until I get through it. Is that normal behavior? Probably not, but I’m okay with that. Anyway, I’m back into the swing of things with a good ol’ Canadian tuxedo. The other day I saw a post on Instagram that said, “Can we please normalize outfit repeating?” It really resonated with me because I spend way too much time and money trying to keep up with fashion girls who are constantly bombarding us with their latest fashion finds. Don’t get me wrong, I know they have a job to do and it’s a job that I one day hope to have too, but I’m not there yet so in the meantime I need to be more realistic about my spending.

After I saw that post I made it a goal of mine to focus more on re-styling items I already own and love instead of impulsively buying new clothes every week because an influencer told me to. Not only is it detrimental to my bank account, it’s also extremely harmful to the environment, but that’s a topic for another day. Actually, it’s probably a topic for someone else completely because I’m not nearly educated enough on it and I’m also probably one of the biggest contributors to the problem. I’m working on it though.

I wore this same outfit last spring with different boots and without the coat, scarf, and hat. It was one of my favorite looks at the time so I decided to recreate it, but with a little winter flare this time. Just a random side note* I realize that trousers have been trending all fall/winter and will continue to trend through spring, and while I love the look of them, I will always be a denim girl at heart. I bought one pair of trousers this past fall and I had every intention of styling them for the blog, but I just kept getting drawn back to my jeans so I stopped fighting it. As I’ve mentioned a thousand times, it’s what I feel the most comfortable/confident in when it comes to creating, what I consider, my best looks. So, why mess with that, you know? Okay, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. All outfit details are listed below. Most items are old/sold out, but I will link similar options as always. Until next time, tootles sugar plums! Xoxo.
