Hi friends! Welcome back! I have been anxiously awaiting this post because it's one that I am super excited about. Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen. This is gonna be a good one (at least I think so). So in the last few months or so, I've seen a lot of the fashion girlies posting super cute coats/jackets/blazers. When they're asked where they got it from the answer seems to be, more often than not, "I thrifted it" or "it's vintage." Honestly, as a lover of fashion who is easily influenced to purchase the items they see and love on social media, that is literally the most annoying thing to hear. At least if something is sold out there's a chance you can find it secondhand on one of the many selling platforms out there, but when something is vintage, there's almost no chance you'll find the exact same item.
So, a couple of weekends ago, I decided it was time to try my hand at thrifting to see if I could find some envy worthy winter staples of my own. It took a few different visits to a few different shops, but eventually, we hit the thrift store jackpot. I'm not exaggerating when I say we purchased SEVERAL items (including coats, blazers, and jeans) in near perfect condition and spent way less than the cost of one good full-priced coat. I kept a few of the coats for myself because duh, but I decided to sell everything else because I felt like it was unfair not to share these gems with you guys as well. I'm selling them over on my Poshmark account if you're interested!
One of the coats that I kept is this perfectly oversized 100% wool beauty. I mean are you kidding? I have been on the hunt for a charcoal grey wool coat for a little while now and I couldn't believe my eyes when I found this one. I've never grabbed anything faster. I went for a super casual, very "me" look for my first time styling her. The hot pink beanie adds a nice touch of show-stopping fun, because who doesn't love a little pop of color right? This is something I would wear if I were going shopping, meeting a friend for lunch, walking around the city to check out all the fun holiday lights/displays, etc. It's simple and comfortable enough to wear for multiple errands throughout the day, but stylish enough to get compliments everywhere you go. If you think this coat is a good find, just wait until you see the other beauties I found in future posts. This is your sign to stop spending hundreds of dollars on coats and check out your local thrift shops. If you feel a little weird about wearing clothes that have already been worn, you can just have them dry-cleaned and it'll be like you have a brand new coat! Until next time, tootles sugar plums! Xoxo.
