Canadian Tuxedo

Hi friends! Welcome back! Well, it's March and I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling like I'm suffering from a bit of PTSD. We all know what happened last March. However, I am also feeling hopeful that we are on the verge of some positive changes in the world. The most exciting part of this month is the fact that in just a couple of weeks it will be spring! I am craving warmer weather and longer days and knowing that both are right around the corner makes me feel elated. I am beyond ready to ditch my winter coats and start creating some spring looks. Actually, I guess I can't say I’m ready to start because I already did. This week's post is my first look of the upcoming spring season and I am very excited about this one!

I have been terrified of attempting a denim on denim look because if it isn't done right it can look very, very tacky. It's something I have always wanted to try though because when it is done right, it can be so so stylish. Throughout the years, and with a lot of fashion inspo saves, I think I have finally cracked the code. First, the most obvious factor (to me at least) is that the shades of denim should be identical or at least nearly identical. Second, the textures of denim should also be nearly identical. If you're wearing a thick 100% cotton pair of jeans, then your denim jacket/shirt should be similar in thickness. The final trick to nail your Canadian tuxedo (and this is 100% my opinion) is to avoid super dark shades of denim. While you're at it, I would avoid super thin denim as well. So basically, stick to thick denims that are of a lighter wash. Anything else risks the possibility of looking a little shoddy. Again, these are just observations that I have made through my own research, but everyone's style is different so by all means wear what you want. You might love your darker, thinner denim or you might hate the Canadian tuxedo look all together. Both of those opinions are perfectly valid. All outfit details are listed below. Until next time, tootles sugar plums! Xoxo.
