Bridal Shower Bliss

whatjamloves

Hi friends! Welcome back! This post is a SUPER exciting one. As you can see from the above photos, this past weekend my amazing friends and family threw me the most incredible surprise bridal shower ever! I knew I was going to be having a shower but when, where, and who would be attending were all a mystery to me. I know some people don't like surprises, but I personally love them. Planning events has always been a bit of a challenge for me because I get so overwhelmed and anxious that eventually I just kind of shut down. That being said, planning a wedding has not been an easy feat. When my Matron of Honor asked me if I wanted my bridal shower to be a surprise, I jumped at the opportunity to not have any involvement in even one of the steps of this process. Honestly, it was the best decision I could have made.

Our wedding is on July 15th of this year so I knew my bridal shower would be happening at some point soon, but when was the question. A couple of months ago I told both my mom and Jason to figure out a way to make sure my hair, makeup and nails were done on the day of the shower without ruining the surprise. I had no idea how they would pull that off, but I knew that if anyone could do it, it's them. So here's how it all went down: a few weeks ago my mom told me that my hairstylist wants to do a trial on Friday, May 20th which made sense to me because the hairstyle I want for our wedding day is different from anything I have gotten before. Nothing fishy at all about that to me. Then, Jason said he had a bunch a fun activities planned for us on the weekend, starting with brunch at one of our favorite French restaurants. This also seemed normal to me because my birthday was on the Tuesday before (the 17th). My nails were done because Jason asked me if I wanted to get them done a couple of weeks ago, also for my birthday. Why would I turn that down, right? So anyway, fast forward to Saturday, the 21st. This was the day that Jason said he made a brunch reservation. I got all dolled up, excited for my bday brunch and when we arrived, he told me that we had to go straight to the patio area in the back which also was normal to me because we always ate back there. Looking back on it, what should have given it away was that even though we always sit back there, we have always had to "check-in" inside the restaurant. Also, side note, I texted my mom when we were on our way to brunch because at 31-years-old I still tell my mom what I’m doing at all times. She texted me back saying, "Hola baby. Enjoy your brunch. Send pics 😘.” Oh, she’s good. So anyway, when we walked up to the restaurant I noticed that the inside was completely empty but I thought, "Oh that must be why we have to check-in outside, there must be an event going on inside today." As we turned the corner towards the back patio, I saw a sea of my family and friends and the most beautiful setup ever and it took everything in me not to cry. There was an event going on, but it just happened to be mine!

My mom had my outfit at-the-ready because I gave everything to her a few weeks prior, so I changed in the bathroom as soon as I got there and the rest of the day was absolutely incredible. I have no idea how they pulled it all off but it was the most perfectly executed surprise, aside from Jason's proposal of course. I cannot thank my mom, future mother-in-law, my Matron of Honor, my bridesmaids, and everyone who attended/sent us gifts enough for making me feel so loved and special. It was one of the best days of my life and I will cherish this memory for life. If this is any indication of how our wedding day is going to go, I don't know how I'm going to be able to keep it together. Life hasn't been easy the past couple of years, but having such phenomenal friends and family has made me realize that even in the toughest of times, as long as you have the love and support of the people around you, you can get through anything. I am just SO happy!

Until next time, tootles sugar plums! Xoxo.
