Beating The Heat

whatjamloves

Hi friends! Welcome back! We have been dealing with a crazy heat wave here in NJ and I think we can all agree that if there's one thing that makes getting dressed difficult, it's extreme heat. When it's 90-95 degrees every day, almost everything seems unbearable to wear. Normally on days like this I'm a simple tee/tank top and denim shorts kinda girl, but I wanted to challenge myself to find something in my closet that was a little different.

If you guys remember, last summer I went through a big crochet phase. Though that obsession has dwindled slightly, I do still love a crochet shirt. Normally, I would not recommend wearing knitwear of any sort on a super hot summer day, but I feel like you can get away with it when it comes to crochet since the holes are usually big enough to let some air in. This was one of the shirts I bought and obsessed over last year and I can confirm that it is surprisingly very breathable even in 90 something degree weather. To balance out the slightly thicker material of the knit top, I styled it with a pair of easy lightweight yellow linen shorts. Finally, to finish off the look, I went with my favorite mesh flats which has a similar crochet material as the top. I loved how this outfit turned out and I managed to not sweat to death while wearing it all day. Win win!
