A Dash of Print

Hi friends! Welcome back! I'm just going to put this out there now. I have a new obsession. This means I'm going to find a way to wear it over and over again until I decide I'm over it. I'm sure you can guess what it is based on these pictures but indulge me anyway please. Belted coats. Trench coats, wool coats, puffer coats, you name it. If it's belted, I want it. I'm letting you guys know this now so that when you see me wearing different versions of these week after week, you'll remember and say, "Oh right, she did tell us that she has an obsession." I'm someone who strongly believes that when you find an outfit formula that works for you and you feel your best in it, wear it as many times as you want. The most important thing about fashion and style is feeling your best in whatever you choose to wear. Social media creates unrealistic standards for how often we should be shopping and how much variety we need to have in our wardrobe. We're constantly bombarded with influencers telling us about cute new trends which then make us feel like we need to keep up. Here's a secret. We don't. You want to know another secret? A lot of these items we see these influencers in are given to them for free. Then, those same items end up being sold on their Poshmark the day after they posted themselves wearing it with the caption, "Bury me in this dress." Don't drink the Kool-Aid guys. Trust me. I'm guilty of this and it's a habit I am consciously trying to break. You end up spending your hard earned money on the same item that they got for free.

Of course, if something resonates with you and you feel like you want to buy it, by all means go for it. My only advice is that you make those decisions based on items you REALLY feel like you need in your wardrobe. Don't get sucked into the social media trap. This is a job for them and they're not always 100% honest about how things work. That's what I'm here for. If you need someone to keep it real with you, you can count on me. Okay, I have no idea how I ended up ranting about this when my only intention was to talk about my belted coat obsession. Anyway, I got this trench last Christmas as a gift from Jason. What I love about this trench, and basically all of my belted coats, is the ability to order a couple sizes up and still achieve a super flattering fit. The belt allows you to cinch in your waist so that even if the coat is really oversized, you still look put together. I styled it with a pair of black skinny jeans, a black turtleneck, & snake print boots to give it a little pizzaz. Stay tuned for more of basically this same exact look but with different pieces. Don't say I didn't warn you. All outfit details are listed below. Until next time, tootles sugar plums! Xoxo.
