Handmade Perfection

Hi friends! Welcome back! Okay, I'm just going to get right into it. How cute is this top?! I know right? Not only is it the perfect summer top, but it was also handmade by one of my super talented friends from college. I've always been a big fan of crochet pieces (cardigans, hats, scarves, blankets, you name it). I love how many different items you can make that range from winter to summer and how intricate the details are. I wouldn't even know where to begin if someone handed me yarn and said to make a wearable item of clothing, so I'm beyond impressed with the work that goes into it.

All right guys. I know this post is probably going to get a lot of eye rolls because of what I'm about to say, but I feel like it's important for me to be as real as I can be, especially in today's world of social media. So here goes. I was very nervous about wearing this top and to be completely honest, I had a bit of a meltdown about it. We all have our insecurities when it comes to our bodies. The majority of my life, I was insecure about how thin I was. I would literally pray every single night to wake up and be 10 lbs heavier. Now, as an adult, I'm finally happy with my size, but of course, no one gains weight in all the right places despite what you see on Instagram. Okay, I'm rambling at this point and you're patiently waiting for me to get to the point, so here it is. I've been careful to avoid open back tops because my back isn't the most flat, if that makes sense. I see so many girls in their super cute backless tops and I realized that my back just does not look the way theirs does. Between that and the size of my chest, I just felt like it was a bad combination. I know how ridiculous this sounds because I realize I am still a very thin person, but my point is that everyone has parts of their body that make them feel a little self-conscious. Mine are my back rolls and my boobs. So anyway, after my meltdown and some encouraging words from my super sweet fiancé, I decided to put on this gorgeous top that my friend so kindly made for me and own it. Back rolls, big boobs and all. There is so much more to life than what you think you look like. Wear that cute top girl!
